Description
I specialize in the treatment of anxiety related to a trauma or highly stressful event. I use an integrative approach that includes: 1) Solution-Focused/Strength-Based – highlighting strengths, noticing what has worked in the past, and setting goal-oriented action steps, 2) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy – noticing triggers, spiraling negative thoughts, and brainstorming self-soothing strategies, and 3) Rogerian Therapy – sharing mutual respect, empathy, and genuine positive regard.
I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), a recommended treatment by the APA for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The aim of this approach is to process specific memories until they fade in disturbance. This involves alternating between talking about the trauma(s) and following a light bar with your eyes (mimicking REM sleep).
Clients must be residents of California. I work with Adults, Students, Parents, Young Adults, Professionals, Artists/Writers, and Responders. I provide individual therapy only, no couples counseling. I'm in-network with Cigna Health Insurance. For out-of-network, I can provide you with a superbill.
